WOODSIDE

Situated atop a beautiful hillside in Woodside, California, is this charming Tudor with a wrap-around porch and sprawling gardens. The homeowners, an inspiring couple with young children, moved from New York City to a quiet property nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay. As art collectors, who appreciated the process of learning about makers and the story of each piece procured by the team, the clients also wanted to maintain the existing charm of the home. They did not want to modernize or change the essence of the house, but did want it to feel more like them; to be a place they felt inspired by and where they could grow as a family. All of this fueled the design thesis for Kristin and the team, as well as the journey the team would take with the clients; including trips to flea markets, art shows, galleries, and eventually, concerts and dinners.

The existing architecture and the client’s southern roots provided the context of layers, traditional patterns, and finishes. Alongside these inspirational elements, selections included contemporary fixtures, unexpected art, and rich colors. The goal was to try to unify the sprawling home with their color story, while also providing calming spaces, and those meant to add drama.
